Painting small chips on FSB

When my FSB arrived from California, it had two dime-sized chips in the powdercoat from an apparent impact (or two) during transit.

I wanted to make sure to re-coat the affected area prior to installation, to avoid future rusting.

I found a tractor equipment enamel paint at the local Blain’s Farm and Fleet, that appeared to be a close match for the yellow paint of the bar. It is a Valspar paint that is supposed to be a match for Cub Cadet yellow.

I broke off any remaining loose paint, and scuffed the surface using a wire bristle brush. Then masked the area for paint.

First coat.

Finished. About 5 coats plus light sanding. I layered the paint a little too quickly and wound up with some alligator skin.

All in all, im happy with the results. The paint is a very close match and its a thick enamel.
